Introduction
The Bible tells us, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19). Unlike man, God’s words never fall to the ground. Whatever He promises, He fulfills.
But alongside the declaration of what God can do, the Bible also reveals what He cannot do—not because He lacks power, but because of the perfection of His holy nature. These truths give us confidence to trust Him, love Him, and walk in His promises.
Let’s explore both sides: what God can do and what He cannot do.
⸻
1. What God Can Do
a. God Can Do the Impossible
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
No situation is beyond His reach. He parted the Red Sea, raised the dead, healed the sick, and continues to show His power in the lives of His children today.
b. God Can Fulfill Every Promise
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Every word spoken by the Lord comes to pass in His time. He never forgets, delays out of weakness, or changes His mind.
c. God Can Turn All Things for Good
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” (Romans 8:28)
Even in trials, setbacks, or pain, God weaves everything into a greater plan for those who trust Him.
d. God Can Make a Way Where There Is No Way
“I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)
Where man sees only obstacles, God creates breakthroughs.

2. What God Cannot Do
a. God Cannot Lie
“It is impossible for God to lie.” (Hebrews 6:18)
Every word He speaks is truth. Unlike human promises that may fail, God’s Word is unshakable.
b. God Cannot Fail
“The LORD is faithful in all He does.” (Psalm 33:4)
Failure does not exist in His nature. His power and purposes always prevail.
c. God Cannot Be Mocked
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7)
No one can outsmart or trick God. What we sow with our actions and choices will always produce a harvest.
d. God Cannot Deny Himself
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful—for He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
God’s character is consistent. His holiness, justice, and love never change.

Conclusion
God’s power has no limits, yet His holy nature places unbreakable boundaries on what He will never do. He cannot lie, He cannot fail, and He cannot be mocked. At the same time, He can heal, deliver, provide, and fulfill every promise spoken over your life.
This truth should strengthen our faith: the God we serve is both all-powerful and utterly trustworthy. Whatever He has promised, He will do. And because He cannot change His nature, His love and faithfulness toward you will never fade.
So today, hold fast to His Word, trust His promises, and walk in the confidence that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You are a God who cannot lie, who never fails, and who always fulfills Your promises. Teach me to trust in Your Word, even when circumstances seem uncertain. Help me to rest in the truth that You can do the impossible in my life, and that nothing is too hard for You. Strengthen my faith, and let my heart always rejoice in Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
